ME 2.0 Palestinian-Israeli Young Business Leaders at the Dead Sea
On the weekend of November 17th and 18th, we were exploring together with members of our ME 2.0 Palestinian-Israeli Young Business Leaders Forum economic, environmental and political matters of concern at the lowest spot on earth. Dead Sea and water experts Dr. Clive Lipchin, senior researcher at the Arava Institute and Dr. Shaddad Attili, former Palestinian Authority Minister of Water and Head of Palestinian Water Authority were accompanying our group and giving their professional insights. Their bottom line is alarming: the eventual disappearing of the Dead Sea is unavoidable, but the pace of the dropping Dead Sea water level could be reduced if the relevant decision makers would take the wake up calls from the scientist community serious. The unresolved Palestinian-Israel conflict is undermining efficient cross-border cooperation between Israel, the Palestinian Authority and Jordan, which is essential to jointly work towards a solution to stop the dramatic pace of shrinkage of the Dead Sea.
